Tunisian short row oval

This pattern for an oval placemat uses the beautiful Tunisian simple stitch short row technique. Some familiarity with the basics of Tunisan crochet is recommended (tunisian simple stitch, tunisian final stitch) but all techniques are demonstrated in the accompanying video for this pattern on my Youtube channel (https://youtu.be/bt9drLHx_Ec). Unlike most of my Tunisian ovals, this pattern does not require a double-ended Tunisian hook as it is not worked in the round. It is worked using 2 colours of worsted cotton, with many options to choose from, but I demonstrate using Shiny Happy Cotton by Wool and the Gang. A 6mm Tunisian hook and 5mm standard crochet hook are recommended.
